Fashion retailer Mango is set to open a new store at the Metrocentre.

The Spanish retailer has announced that it has signed on for a new location at the Gateshead shopping centre’s Lower Red Mall.

The new store - which will be the firm’s largest in the region to date - will bring its Mediterranean-inspired clothing ranges for men and women when it launches this summer.

The new 6,233 sq ft unit, which will sit adjacent to British fragrance and lifestyle brand Jo Malone, will also sit among the likes of Zarra, H&M, and Flannels.

A new image from the centre shows that boards advertising the new store have already gone up around the unit. An opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Mango currently has several stores across the region, including in Newcastle city centre as well as both York and Leeds.

This fresh announcement follows the opening of Footasylum’s new and upsized space in the Red Mall, as well as new investments and upsizings from Zara and Sports Direct.

It also comes as several new chains prepare to open up shop, including fast food eatery German Doner Kebab, escape room The Escapologist, and global beauty brand Sephora.

Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, said: “Introducing Mango to Metrocentre brings an added dimension to an already compelling fashion offer.

“Mango will be a highly complementary addition to our Red Mall line up, which has seen significant investment and an abundance of new commitments over the last twelve months.

“We prove time and time again that we really are the go-to destination for retail, and we look forward to seeing Mango thrive here at Metrocentre.”
