Can you help identify this mystery flower that has been grown by a keen gardener in Darlington?
Charles Johnson, 83, brought in a pot from outside over winter after he noticed that it had four stumps nestled at the bottom.
He was amazed a few weeks later when he saw that it had begun to grow.
Over the last six months he has been surprised to see it grow to over six feet in height.
One of Mr Johnson's neighbours believes that it might be a variety of lily but confusion surrounds the exact variety.
The 83-year-old, who is a former mayor of Darlington, said: "I decided to bring this container in after Christmas.
"I noticed that there were a few stumps at the bottom of it.
"I thought it might have a better chance inside and then it shot up.
