A taste of the Alps is coming to Newcastle as a new alpine pub and year-round après-ski cabin opens up to ski lovers this summer.

The Prince - which is inspired by Austrian ski resorts “with all the trimmings” - is set to launch in the former Green Man pub, on Pudding Chare, in July.

The venue will feature a Ski Gondola DJ booth, vintage skis, and imported timbers in a bid to “transport guests to a buzzing ski palace” in the heart of the city centre.

The authentic alpine palace will also serve up authentic beer, play live sports, host karaoke booths and ‘singalong disko’ till late, and boast weekend line-ups of live music and sax.

The Prince - which is run by the team behind popular bar Pumphreys and shipping container venue FRATE - is the brainchild of co-owners Robert Clarkson and Tom Byron.

The duo have helped transform the former boozer over the last five months in order to bring the unique concept to the city centre.

The venue - which is “steeped in Bavarian culture” - has been dressed in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl attire to provide an authentic pub and party experience.

There’s also stone fireplaces, repurposed antler horn lights, and even nostalgic videos of Winter Olympic reruns to truly set the scene for the après-ski cabin.

Co-curator Rob Clarkson said: "We are thrilled to introduce The Prince to Newcastle, offering a unique concept that blends the charm of an Alpine Pub and all-year-round après-ski cabin with the vibrant spirit of our city.
