Dramatic footage has emerged on social media showing the moment a Middlesbrough home exploded - sending debris flying into the air. 

Emergency services flooded Kirkland Walk, in Park End, on Tuesday afternoon after a sudden explosion destroyed a property.

Now, terrifying doorbell footage, which is circulating on social media, has revealed the moment a loud bang rang out around the estate as a plume of debris and flames shattered the windows and doors of the home. 

A huge cordon was erected around the estate as residents were evacuated from their homes - while others ran towards the destruction to help rescue the man inside. 

Kayfee Hameed, 48, from Berwick Hills, who was one of the first people at the scene, described how a cry for help prompted him to rush into the smoking building. 

He told The Northern Echo: "I was driving to go to work and everyone was running. I was packing the van and saw the fire so I ran too.(Image: TERRY BLACKBURN)

"People were telling me not to go closer but I heard someone shouting for help. I ran inside, put a man on my shoulder and took him out.”

The North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that a man was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with “severe burns.” 

Cleveland Police is yet to issue a full statement on the incident but continues to urge members of the public to avoid the area while emergency services remain at the scene.

"Members of the public are urged to avoid the area while Cleveland Police, Cleveland Fire Brigade and North East Ambulance Service work together at the scene. We thank local residents for their patience as we continue to deal with this incident."

A NEAS spokesperson said, "We received a call to 999 at 12.42 this afternoon to reports of a house explosion on Kirkland Walk, Middlesbrough. 

"We sent a duty officer, a clinical team leader, two emergency ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic, a doctor, four Hazardous Area Response Teams and the air ambulance. 

"One patient has been transported to the RVI by air with severe burns."
