Two men appear in court charged with the attempted murder of a man who suffered gunshot wounds in an alleged targeted attack.

Aaron and Nathan Blagg were arrested following the alleged shooting last month which left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

The 26-year-olds, both of Macbean Street, Middlesbrough, were not asked to enter pleas to the charge when they appeared via a video link for a short hearing.

Cleveland Police previously said a 35-year-old man had been seriously injured in an alleged firearm incident on Hubbard Walk in Middlesbrough on Friday, May 17, at about 8.20pm.

Judge Howard Crowson remanded both in custody over the attempted murder charge until a further preliminary hearing due to take place on August 6.

A provisional trial date was listed for October 28 this year.

Two other men, aged 28 and 58, both from Middlesbrough, were arrested and charged with violent disorder and appeared in court last month. Both men were remanded into custody.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said at the time that there was no threat to the wider public and it is believed it was an isolated incident.
