A popular railway walking route is closing for weeks for essential maintenance works.

The Auckland Way Railway Path between Byers Green and Whitworth Road car park in Spennymoor will be closed from Tuesday (June 18).

The closure will be from Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm with the route reopening on afternoons and weekends.

Durham County Council apologised for any inconvenience the work may cause.
