A popular railway walking route is closing for weeks for essential maintenance works.
The Auckland Way Railway Path between Byers Green and Whitworth Road car park in Spennymoor will be closed from Tuesday (June 18).
The work is expected to take place for a number of weeks.
The closure will be from Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm with the route reopening on afternoons and weekends.
Durham County Council apologised for any inconvenience the work may cause.
A spokesperson said: "From tomorrow (18 June) the Auckland Way Railway Path will be closed between Byers Green and Whitworth Road Car Park, Spennymoor.

"We expect the closure to be in place for a number of weeks while improvement works are undertaken.
"The closure will apply from Monday to Friday, 8am-3pm, with the route re-opening for users after 3pm, and during the weekends.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience."
