An all-you-can-eat Chinese fusion buffet restaurant in Darlington has hit the market this week as it searches for a new owner.

Bambudda, on Gladstone Street, is open for offers around the £100,000 mark with a "very impressive" weekly turnover starting at £18k-£19k.

The restaurant, which serves a mixture of Asian food, can seat 40 customers and first opened in 2021.

A sale listing describes the venue as an "exceptionally busy Chinese/Oriental fusion restaurant in Darlington, just on the fringe of the town centre and adjacent to large public car park."

It says: "The business is run in sensible hours by our client with a team of competent staff and achieves a very impressive turnover whilst working on high gross profit margins in excess of 67%.

"Weekly turnover £18,000 to £19,000. The premises are held on lease and briefly comprise: entrance lobby with ladies and gents WCs.

"Fitted bar with main dining area which has been substantially furbished and well fitted offering seating for up to 80 diners. Spacious commercial kitchen with good extraction, excellent range of quality catering equipment and ancillary storage. Pot wash area.

"Further small store and refuse storage area. First floor store room and second dining area used as an overspill area but also for private parties and functions which seats a further 40 diners comfortably and has its own fully fitted bar.

It is understood the eatery will remain open whilst the sale goes through.

Pictures released from the venue's opening three years ago show it filled with authentic decor and wall art.

Showing around The Northern Echo before its grand opening, General Manager Lucy Nguyen spoke of how excited the team was to expand.

"We always wanted to expand our business and we found out that Darlington is a big place that didn't have many sit-in Asian restaurants," Lucy said. 

"It was exactly what we were looking for and a chance for us to give customers a new experience they've never had before."
