A family-run microbar has opened in place of a former bar and hope to see ‘lots of new faces’ with the Euros underway.
The New Alice opened on Borough Road in Middlesbrough on June 7 – in the building which formerly housed the Devil’s Advocate bar.
The new venue is headed by Steven Beattie and his family.
They thanked everyone who joined them for their official opening night.
A spokesperson for the bar said: “A lot of effort went into the opening. Staff, alongside their regular full time jobs, spent a lot of time cleaning, polishing, [renovating], [and] put in long hours to get it ready.
“After taking over from the current owners of the Devil’s Advocate, it already left us in good standing with old regulars and new customers alike, who are looking forward to seeing what we do with future projects as we are planning a big refurbishment in September.
“We have already had a lot of new faces in, in just the first week of opening, and it’s been great to meet new people as we love a good chin wag.”
The new bar sports a small seating area at the front, a larger outdoor seating area out the back with a TV.
The bar is fitted with four TVs – while the venue will have music playing throughout the day, and karaoke will be held every Friday night.

They added they will be showing every game from the Euros, and will be offering a free shot for every purchased drink during game time – but only while England remain in the tournament.
The bar said they will have strict challenge 25 ID measures in place, and added there is a zero tolerance policy regarding this.
The venue will be open Tuesday and Wednesday, 3pm to 12am; Friday and Saturday, 12pm to 12am; Sunday, 12pm to 10pm.
