Two people have been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the A1(M) near Darlington this morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the collision on the A1(M) near Burtree at about 11.45am on Saturday (June 15).
Police and the ambulance service attended the incident on the southbound carriageway between Junction 68 (West Auckland Road, Burtree) and Junction 57 A66(M) Darlington.
Paramedics treated two people at the scene, before they were taken to hospital.
The incident caused significant delays to motorists for several hours.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic collision today (15 June) at 11:45am on A1 southbound in Darlington.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew and one rapid response paramedic to the incident. Two patients were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital."
