Organisers of the Homegrown Food Festival 2024 in Northallerton have told visitors what to expect during this year's event, as they have promised bigger and better things.
Taking place on Sunday, June 23, this year’s event will include a new-look Food Theatre hosted by leading industry presenter, Cara Houchen from Take a Bite Media.
Cara has worked with some of the top chefs in the UK over the last ten years.
Chefs from some of North Yorkshire’s most talked about establishments will be demonstrating from an outdoor kitchen.
To entertain visitors, there will be entertainment for all ages.
Children can watch and showcase performance skills alongside Thunk-It Theatre.
This community-focused company based in York, provides accessible theatre provisions, workshops and performances to young people and their families.
Watch Thunk-It Theatre perform an interactive and inclusive retelling of the classic story 'Hansel and Gretel'.
With puppetry and integrated sign language, this piece travels through an outside space and encourages the audience to join in. After the performance, children can enjoy post-show workshops.
For adults, there will be an innovative creative art workshop run by Karen Winter from ‘The Joy of Creativity’ based in Ainderby Steeple.
Adults will learn about the impact of play on creativity by making their own Froggle Woggle before discovering how to draw an alpaca.
This step-by-step guide will demonstrate how everyone can draw and increase creativity following guidance from talented North-East artist, Kim Fewell.
The main festival stage will also welcome newcomers to the event.
Mikey Dowson and Joe Blades are an acoustic duo who will be playing upbeat covers.
Replicants are an experienced pub, club and wedding/party band and will be performing a range of well-known hits.
For those looking for heavier rock music, the festival committee have invited a new young band called The Yellow Rooms, ensuring the event has music styles to suit all tastes.

The organisers of the Homegrown Food Festival love to offer opportunities for small and upcoming businesses to get products seen and heard.
One of these new ventures is the IncrEDIBLE plant co. which is based in Appleton Wiske.
To add to the community feel, the committee will also be welcoming Yorkshire Water, Northallerton Men’s Shed and the North Yorkshire Rotters who will be promoting composting and recycling.
Organiser of the Homegrown Food Festival Nicky Ruddick said: “Each year we find new ways to make the festival look and feel a little different.
"We want to ensure we include as many community ventures as possible and offer new opportunities for visitors to experience to make the day as memorable as possible.
"With new bands, new businesses and new activities, we know that there will be something for everyone at this year’s event.”
