A vehicle left a trail of destruction after leaving the road and crashing into the front window and wall of a McDonald's restaurant in County Durham early this morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash at the McDonald's on the Thinford roundabout of the A167 near Ferryhill shortly after midnight (Friday, June 14).
A vehicle, believed to be a Subaru Forester, has left the road and crashed into a metal boundary fence before ploughing through a seating area , uprooting tables and chairs and crashing into the front window and wall.
The window was smashed and part of the wall damaged in the collision.
It is not known if anyone was hurt in the crash. The restaurant is open 24/7 and workers were there at the time - but on the other side of the building.
No one was in the restaurant at the time.
This morning the restaurant remains closed with the area tied up.
We have contacted Durham Police and the North East Ambulance Service for more information.
