Jobs are up for grabs at Middlesbrough’s upcoming state-of-the-art play centre.
North East-based leisure operator The Fun Shack Group has launched a recruitment drive for several roles at its new £2.5m facility in Captain Cook Square.
From roles in reception to jobs in the café and kitchen, there are a variety of new openings for the venue, which is set to welcome families this summer.
Here’s an overview of the roles you can apply for:
Play operative
These are “integral to the smooth running” of the venue and “help deliver some of the core services to our customers during their visit.”
Tasks include monitoring various play activities, hosting birthday parties, and keeping the centre clean and tidy. Those who apply must be able to be able to work school holidays and most weekends. You can apply here.
Receptionist
This involves running the day-to-day business and dealing with the general public. Bosses will also require any receptionists to be eventually cross-trained on other departments in the venue, such as the café.
There are numerous jobs available, which will be between 6-40 hours (per week), with shifts on weekdays, weekends and school holidays (hours will vary between 9:30am-6:30pm). You can apply for these here.
Barista/cafe all rounder
The successful candidate for this role will be the “friendly face” that greets customers when they are ready to order food and drink. You will be responsible for delivering meal orders - with the job application available to view online here.
Cafe worker/cook
This role involves working in the busy kitchen. The role can be part time or full-time (approximately 37 hours per week) with more hours available during school holidays. All applicants must be available to also work weekends, with more information here.
The venue is set to launch on the first floor of the former Wilko at the complex later this year, featuring everything from rope bridges to a cannonball area and interactive football courts.
Bosses at The Fun Shack Group - which also runs the Jump 360 trampoline parks and Clip N Climb centres - previously confirmed that the venue would create 80 new jobs.

Just last week, exciting new images unveiled what the site will look like, including a striking red and yellow volcano slide and a pirate island under 5’s area.
The ground floor will also be home to giant indoor inflatable theme park Inflatespace, which will feature slides, assault courses, wipeout challenges and bungee ropes.
Once open, Fun Shack and Inflatspace will join the likes of go-karting venue Level X and American eatery Wendy’s as the regeneration of Captain Cook Square continues.
An opening date for Fun Shack has not yet been announced.
