Summer is fast approaching - meaning there isn't long left to book tickets for days out with the kids for the summer holidays.

In Darlington, there are five family shows in the next few months which are suitable for little ones and you can grab tickets for under £20.

Bluey's Big Play

June 13-16

All your favourites: Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad will be at the Hippodrome with a show filled with fun and games.

The 50 minute performance is set to be "Bluey as you've never seen it before".

The show listing says: "When Dad feels like a little bit of Sunday afternoon time out, Bluey and Bingo have other plans!

"Join them as they pull out all of the games and cleverness at their disposal to get Dad off that bean bag."

David Walliams' Awful Auntie

July 11-14

Acclaimed author David Walliams is back with his latest show based on his novel Awful Auntie.

Fireman Sam - The Great Camping Adventure

July 21

A childhood staple for generations, the much-loved character Fireman Sam embarks on a rescue mission to save an explorer from a cave.

The show listing says: "Norman wants to go on an adventure to impress his friends, so when two famous animal explorers arrive in Pontypandy, he decides to follow them into the mountains.

"But when Norman discovers a rare red squirrel, one of the explorers decides to take the glory for themselves, leaving Norman stranded in a cave.

In The Night Garden

August 21-22

In late August, characters from the popular CBeebies show In The Night Garden come to Darlington.

The show has been touring for 15 years, and it's one of the most popular family theatre productions.

The listing says: "Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and friends are back in their fun-filled live show Igglepiggle’s Busy Day!

"Join Igglepiggle as he looks for his friends in the Night Garden by following their funny sounds until he finds them all!

"You’ll see all your favourite characters beautifully brought to life with full-size costumes, magical puppets, and enchanting music.

The Lion Inside 

August 30 - September 1

Just before school begins again, you can catch The Lion Inside at the Hippodrome. The tale follows the story of a mouse who sets out on a journey to find his roar.

The listing says: "In a dry dusty place where the sand sparkled gold, stood a mighty flat rock, all craggy and old. And under that rock in a tinyful house, lived the littlest, quietest, meekest brown mouse.
