Two people have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after an attack left a man in a critical condition.
The incident took place on Hart Lane, Hartlepool, on Saturday (June 8).
Both arrested men have been taken to police custody to be questioned.
The 39-year-old victim is in critical condition at James Cook University Hospital.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Two 24-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident on Hart Lane in Hartlepool on Saturday 8th June.
"Both have been taken to police custody for questioning.
"The 39-year-old victim is currently in a critical condition at James Cook University Hospital."
