A pensioner was left with a broken arm after a three-car collision in Middlesbrough. 

A taxi driver was arrested at the scene of the incident on Thursday (June 6), after refusing to provide a specimen, causing serious injury by careless driving, and driving whilst unfit. 

Now, police are appealing for anyone who might have seen the car crash, or has any additional information, to get in touch. 

A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a three-vehicle collision which left a 72-year-old woman with a broken arm on Ladgate Lane in Middlesbrough at 5pm on Thursday, June 6.

"A silver Toyota Corolla taxi travelling east on Ladgate Lane collided with a silver Chevrolet Aveo and a silver Mercedes E Class travelling west.

"A 72-year-old woman who was a passenger in the rear of the taxi who sustained a broken arm was taken to James Cook University Hospital and released following treatment.

"The 64-year-old driver of the taxi was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failure to provide a specimen, causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst unfit.

"The drivers of the other vehicles were not seriously injured. Witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting SE24106000."
