National retailer The Range looks set to open a store at a new Bishop Auckland retail park in just a matter of days.

The discount chain was first announced to be opening a new unit at Auckland Retail & Leisure Park last year, alongside Home Bargains, Reel Cinemas, Pure Gym, and others.

Works have been ongoing at the complex for the last few months - with several chains including Popeyes, Greggs, and TUI already launching new stores.

Latest pictures from the development show how “coming soon” signs have been placed on the front of the huge new unit, alongside logos and branding - with the website now stating an opening date of Friday, June 14.

Signs also state that customers will be able to find Wilko favourites inside the store once open, after The Range took over the Wilko brand following its collapse last year.

Opening hours for the shop - which will also feature a garden centre - will be from 9am until 8pm from Monday until Saturday and from 10.30am until 4.30pm on Sunday.

The news comes just weeks after Home Bargains announced it would be cutting the ribbon on its 30,000sq ft new store at the park on Saturday, June 29.

Just this week, fitness giant PureGym opened the doors to its new 24/7 gym. The 11,000 sq. ft. facility was launched by paralympian and County Durham local Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE on Monday.

The gym features hundreds of pieces of “state of the art” equipment, a functional zone and free weights area, cardio equipment, and a fitness studio.
