Tallentire, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody until his next court date in July.

Inspector Peter Lonsdale, from South Durham CID said: “Being burgled doesn’t just mean the loss of valuable and sentimental items, it also has a massive impact on the victim’s welfare, that’s why getting charges and tackling this intrusive crime is vital.

“I’d like to reassure residents that we are continuing to tackle burglaries, crackdown on this type of offending across the county and bring those responsible before the courts.”
