The North East’s very own James Arthur will be bringing his Bitter Sweet Love world tour to his hometown of Middlesbrough this weekend.

The Say You Won’t Let Go hitmaker came into the spotlight after winning series nine of The X Factor in 2012 and claimed his debut number one with a cover of Shontelle's Impossible.

He has since gone on to release other fan favourites such as Naked and Rewrite The Stars as part of The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack.

If you’re heading to see James Arthur at Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough on Saturday, June 8, here is everything you need to know including stage times, support acts, travel and more.

All ticket holders will be allowed entry on site at 3.30pm and the stadium bowl for pitch standing and seating, and access to the hospitality lounges will open at 5pm.

James Arthur is set to take to the stage at around 8.30pm and his set will end at 10.15pm.

As always, it’s important to remember that timings are subject to change.

Who is supporting James Arthur at Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium?

There are three exciting support acts joining James Arthur at the Riverside Stadium.

First up is a local artist who is yet to be named but they will perform at 6pm.

Next will be singer Lauran Hibberd who will begin her performance from 6.15pm.

Finally, boy band phenomenon McFly will be smashing out some of their hits from 7.05pm.

Are there any tickets left for James Arthur at Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium?

General admission tickets are sold via Ticketmaster and their approved partner sites for current availability.

There are still some tickets left for both standing and seated areas, starting from £23 per person and going up to £149.

Bag rules and prohibited items for James Arthur at Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium

People attending James Arthur’s concert are being asked to not bring a bag to the event, if possible.

The Middlesbrough Football Club website says: “If you do need to bring a bag, this must be no bigger than A4 in size and will be searched.

“Anything listed on our prohibited items list will be confiscated before entry and any bags bigger than A4 will not be permitted into the stadium.”

The full list of prohibited items are:

  • Alcohol, except in hand sanitizer.
  • Controlled drugs
  • Glass, cans, plastic bottles or thermos flasks of any kind
  • Flammable liquids and aerosols (including perfume, after-shave, hairspray, etc)
  • Laser pens/pointers
  • Laptops, iPads or similar electronic tablets, professional cameras/video equipment
  • Food and drink, unless for medicinal purposes. Gluten-free food and drink is also prohibited, as these options are available on site. Please notify the stadium prior to the day of the event if you need to bring items for medicinal use by emailing Concert-accessibility-24@mfc.co.uk
  • Umbrellas, signs, banners, flags, inflatables, selfie sticks
  • Air horns, whistles or other noise making devices
  • Knives and other weapons, fireworks, smoke bombs, confetti, glitter bombs or sprays
  • Any other items, publicised in advance by stadium management and/or the promoters, or to which they raise objections on the day of the event

Can you park at Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium for James Arthur?

A “significant” road closure operation will commence at approximately 11am on Saturday and remain in place until about midnight.

Unfortunately, there will be no parking at the stadium itself but an alternative will be available close by.

The Middlesbrough Football Club website explains: “‘Big Parking Ltd’ offer dedicated guest parking for many music and sporting events held throughout the UK, and for this event they have secured concert parking on the Teesside University site, within Middlesbrough town centre.

“Located a 20-minute walk from the stadium, the site offers secure and convenient, level access parking on a patrolled site monitored by CCTV.”

How to travel to James Arthur at Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium

By car

If travelling to see James Arthur by car, the Middlesbrough Football Club website has issued the following guidance and says to look for the Riverside Stadium signs:

  • From the North: please use A1, A689, A19, then A66 towards Middlesbrough
  • From the South: please use A19, then A66 towards Middlesbrough
  • From the East: please use A171 or A174, then A66 towards Middlesbrough
  • From the West: please use the A66 towards Middlesbrough

By bus

Middlesbrough Bus Station is located one mile (1.6km) from the Riverside Stadium.

It serves a number of bus routes across the region - Arriva buses, as well as National Express and Megabus coaches all use this bus station.

It takes around 20 minutes to walk from Middlesbrough Bus Station to the venue and is on level ground throughout.

By train

The nearest train station is Middlesbrough Railway Station, located 0.8 miles (1.3km) away.

The walk to the stadium takes approximately 15 minutes and is on level ground throughout.

Trains due to leave from Middlesbrough Railway Station after 10.20pm on Saturday are scheduled as follows:

  • 11.26pm: Northern Rail to Darlington, via Thornaby, Eaglescliffe, Allens West and Dinsdale (Commences service at Middlesbrough)

The Middlesbrough Football Club website explains: “Taxis can drop off concertgoers just outside of the road closure footprint on any of the four approach routes"

This will leave up to a five-minute walk on level ground to the stadium.
