Businesses at Coniscliffe House in Darlington raised nearly £300 at a charity bake sale for the NSPCC today.

Taking part in the “Cake Off” were businesses including Helixr Business Consultancy, LOCALiQ and The Northern Echo.

Several cakes were entered and judged by multi-award-winning baker Dan Booth of The Bakerman in Darlington.

Following a rigorous taste test, he announced Neve McMahon of LOCALiQ as the winner, who won the inaugural title for 2024 with her lemon and caramel drizzle cake.

Neve was given a hearty round of applause when she collected her best baker spoon and apron.

Helixr Business Consultancy came in a close second with the ultimate chocolate cake and then everyone was free to dig into the smorgasbord of delicious delights.

Pictures then show groups tucking into all the bakes which included brownies, Victoria sponge, flapjacks and rocky road.

One of the organisers, Sam Linfoot, said: “It has been fantastic to meet other businesses within Coniscliffe House and raise money for the NSPCC ahead of Childhood Day on June 7.

"We have raised £285 which is absolutely fantastic."
