An emergency incident near Durham last night saw trains grind to a halt between Newcastle and Darlington in the early hours.
The emergency services were called around 11pm last night (Monday, June 4), but brought the event to a conclusion around 2am.
Train services faced delays and cancellations. The services affected were:
- LNER between London Kings Cross and Sunderland / Newcastle; and also between Leeds and Aberdeen
- Lumo between London Kings Cross and Newcastle / Edinburgh
- Northern between Darlington and Newcastle
- TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle
