A body believed to be a man reported missing early this morning has been found.
North Yorkshire Police (NYP) have confirmed they believe they have found the body of missing man, Howard Gibbs, from Askrigg in Wensleydale on Saturday (June 1).
They said the body was found near Mill Gill, in Askrigg, by mountain rescue volunteers assisting officers with their search.
Police confirmed Mr Gibbs’ family have been informed, and added there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
A spokesperson for NYP said: “In the early hours of this morning, Saturday 1 June, we issued an appeal to find a missing man in his 70s from Askrigg in Wensleydale.
“Sadly, earlier today, the body of a man was found near Mill Gill near Askrigg by Mountain Rescue Volunteers who were assisting officers with the search.
“Although formal identification has yet to take place, we believe the man to be missing Howard Gibbs.
