Sixteen County Durham drivers have been fined in court in May.

The drivers, who all appeared at Peterlee Magistrates, were fined for speeding, no insurance, no driving licence, and other motoring offences.

16 County Durham drivers fined over £10k in court this month:

Jonathan Brown, 50, of East Tanfield House in Stanley, Durham, pleaded guilty to speeding on a motorway in Durham on July 10, 2024.

He exceeded the 70 mph limit, while driving a Land Rover. He was fined £666, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £266, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with five points.

Giani Costel Chindinov, 25, of Wellfield Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, was found guilty of failing to give information to police in Durham on January 18, 2024.

The vehicle related to the query was a Mercedes.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

Stuart Thomas Jennings, 61 of Little Burn Way in Pelton Fell, Durham, also failed to give information relating to the identification of a driver to police in Durham on August 28, 2023. The vehicle in question was a Peugeot.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, and ordered to pay £110 costs. He was also disqualified from driving for six months.

Royce Mallett, 30, of Pesspool Avenue, Haswell, Durham, did not provide the necessary identification of a driver to the Durham police on November 23, 2023.

The vehicle in question was an Iveco truck.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

Thomas Helme, 48, of Paddock View, Graffham, Petworth, West Sussex, failed to reveal driver information to the police in Durham on September 21, 2023.

The vehicle involved was a Volvo.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

Wayne Michael Metcalfe, 46, of Cheltenham Court, St. Helen Auckland, Bishop Auckland, was found guilty of speeding in High Etherley on October 25, 2023.

Metcalfe was driving at a speed over 30 miles per hour on a restricted road, namely A68.

Metcalfe must pay the victim services a fund of £95.00, in addition to a £238 fine and £90 in legal costs.

His driving record was endorsed with five points, and he is expected to pay the £423 balance by June 18, 2024.

Katrina Hughes,45, of Cairngorm Drive, Darlington, was found guilty of speeding on A67 Darlington Road in Barnard Castle on October 28, 2023.

Hughes was fined £146, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £58, and handed £90.00 in costs.

Hughes's record was also endorsed with three points, and the £294 balance is due by June 18, 2024.

Stephen Hodgson, 64, of Barnard Close, Spennymoor, was convicted of driving without the correct licence in Bishop Auckland on November 10, 2023.

Hodgson was fined £220, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88 and £90 in costs.

His record was endorsed with three points, and the balance of £398 is expected to be paid by June 18, 2024.

Lorraine Ferguson, 47, of Lowther Avenue, Chester Le Street, pleaded guilty to speeding on the A1(M) J61 Bowburn to J60 Bradbury on October 28, 2023.

She was fined £127 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £50, and £90 in costs.

Her record was endorsed with three points, and the balance of £267 must be paid by June 18, 2024.

Michael John Bradley, 58, of Staindrop Road, West Auckland, was found guilty of exceeding the 30 mph speed limit on A68 Fir Tree in Crook on October 4, 2023.

Bradley was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88.00, and £90.00 in costs.

His record was endorsed with three points.

Bradley's balance of £398 is expected to be paid by June 18, 2024.

David James Beadling, 43, of Gibbs Court, Chester le Street, had his offence of speeding on B6290, Park Road North in Chester le Street withdrawn.

However, he was found guilty of failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle on February 16, 2024.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264.00, and got six points on his licence.

He was also ordered to pay £90 in costs and faces a balance of £1,014 to be paid by June 18, 2024.

Ryan Trevor Allison, 30, of Heathway, Seaham, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and using a handheld mobile phone while driving in Seaham on December 29, 2023.

He was fined £440, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and £90 in costs.

Allison was disqualified from driving for six months and his balance of £706 to be paid by June 19, 2024.

Jason Thompson, 47, of The Coppice, Newton Aycliffe, Durham, was found guilty of speeding on the A1(M) between J61 Bowburn and J60 Bradbury on October 6, 2023.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was also endorsed with 3 points.

Clair Jenny Hall, 44, of Station Road North, Murton, Seaham, Durham, admitted exceeding the 50 mph speed limit on the A690 West Rainton on October 09, 2023.
