A man has admitted committing arson, robbery and possession of an axe when he appeared in court.
Brian Todd's first offence occurred when he robbed an e-bike off a man in Darlington on August 30 last year.
The 31-year-old was arrested the following day after he was spotted carrying an axe on Firthmoor Crescent, Darlington, with any legal reason to do so, Teesside Crown Court heard.

On November 7, Todd then set a house alight on Bevanlee Road, South Bank, Middlesbrough, and admitted an offence of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.
Todd, of Dumfries Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to all three offences and was remanded into custody.
He will return to the same court on July 26 to be sentenced.
