A fast-growing window cleaning company has expanded into the North East as part of ambitious plans to increase its presence across the UK.

YourLocal.com is moving into Teesside, Durham, Sunderland, and Newcastle following the successful rollout of the business across Yorkshire, the North West and South East.

Four experienced personnel have been appointed to manage the move into the North East market, with Paul Fawcett, Joe Dolan, Kevin Rich, and Chris Burton managing the Teesside, Sunderland, Durham, and Newcastle areas respectively.

Each will be supported by a sales team and professional window cleaners who will carry out the service for residential and commercial properties.

Several people have already been taken on while recruitment for additional roles is underway. It is expected that around 20 jobs will be created in the short term.

Founder and managing director Thornton Tasker, who himself is a fourth-generation window cleaner, said: “We have been planning our move into the North East market for some time now and have been working to recruit the right people who share our ambitions to establish YourLocal.com as the number one window cleaning company in the UK.

“The four directors we’ve appointed will be responsible for growing our brand in Teesside, Sunderland, County Durham and Newcastle and we are confident that they can mirror the success we’ve seen in other regions.

“Our aim now is to grow around the country, and that’s something we’ll be working on over the next couple of years. We want everyone to know someone who uses one of our window cleaners.”

The company was founded by Thornton in 2021, but can trace its roots back to 1919, when the entrepreneur’s great-grandfather started a window cleaning company in Otley in Yorkshire. His grandfather, father and Thornton and his brother Austin all followed in his footsteps, and today the Leeds-based business employs over 100 people across the country.

Paul Fawcett said: “I am relishing the challenge of bringing YourLocal.com to Teesside and the Tees Valley area. Their offer goes above and beyond simple window cleaning, it’s about restoring pride in our homes, our businesses, and our communities.

“Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working closely with the management team to recruit sales and window cleaning professionals who will work with me to begin the move into the Teesside market, with a particular focus on residential. I will also be looking for suitable premises from which to grow the business and its reputation.”
