Marks and Spencer have offered customers a first look inside its new store at North East shopping centre.
M&S will open its new store in The Galleries in Washington on Thursday (May 30) – and has unveiled its new plans for a clothing and beauty department.
The new 43,000 square foot location will offer shoppers the brand’s latest Spring Summer womenswear, kidswear and menswear collections.
Store manager, Rob Slone, who has worked at M&S for more than 20 years, said: “The countdown is well and truly on to us opening the doors to our fantastic new store, The Galleries!
“Everyone has been working hard to make sure everything is ready for the grand opening on the 30 May. We can’t wait for customers to see all the amazing new features and enjoy the extended range of products we are able to offer.
“We really do encourage local shoppers to come down and try the store out for themselves – they won’t be disappointed!”
A spokesperson for the brand said employees will be on hand to offer support and styling advice to customers – while there will be an option to pay at the store fitting rooms.
There will be a wider range of M&S footwear on offer, alongside a “spacious try-on area”.

It will also feature a transformed M&S beauty department home to popular brands including the Apothecary collection, and Fresh Elements – the new own-brand skincare range from M&S.
The store will also be powered 100 per cent by electricity, and be fitted with LED lighting and screens as part of M&S’s plans to become a net zero business across all its operations and entire value chain by 2039/40.
The Galleries is located in the Galleries Retail Park, Washington NE38 7SD and the store will open at 9am.
