A yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Tuesday (May 28) afternoon - with the Met Office issuing advice about 'risk of flooding' in certain areas.
The weather agency has said that the weather warning for thunderstorms will be around from 2pm until 7pm in much of North Yorkshire, Northumberland and parts of the Lake District.

The areas that are included in the weather warning include Leyburn, Ripon, Bedale, and Colburn in North Yorkshire, as well as Amble and Alnwick in Northumberland.
The Met Office has issued the following advice:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life

Today: After a dry bright start cloud and outbreaks of rain will spread east through the day. Rain turning heavy at times over the hills which will be shrouded in fog. Turning drier and brightening up a little later this afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight: Partly cloudy overnight perhaps with the odd shower, most likely further west. Parts of the east may remain dry with mist patches forming later. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
Wednesday: Variable amounts of cloud with scattered showers and some bright or sunny spells. Showers locally heavy, thundery and prolonged during the afternoon. Breezy near the coast. Maximum temperature 19 °C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Changeable with a mix of sunshine and heavy showers on Thursday, prolonged and thundery at times. Drier Friday and Saturday with sunny spells. Temperatures near normal. Rather breezy at times.
