Residents were evacuated from their homes by police on a residential road late last night as police dealt with an "ongoing incident".
Properties on West View Road in Hartlepool were subject to a mass evacuation before midnight on Monday (May 27) following reports of an incident.
Police evacuated multiple homes and have thanked the public for their co-operation.
The exact circumstances of the incident are not yet known.
Cleveland Police last night said: "We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident on West View Road in Hartlepool.

"A small number of properties have been evacuated and some residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
"Officers will remain at the scene whilst the incident is dealt with and we’d like to thank all those affected for their co-operation and patience."
