Thousands of people turned out for the first Redcar Kite Festival at the weekend.
An estimated 12,000 people came along to the free event on Saturday, while a host of attractions were planned for the second day, on Sunday.
Kites of all descriptions, sizes and colours took part in the event. Northern kite groups alongside internationally renowned kite experts provided spectacular displays including choreographed routines, flying frogs, sky-high snakes, leaping lizards, daredevil dragons, and scores of amazing inflatables.
There was also a chance to take part in other activities, from kite flying beginners’ sessions, kite and windmill making workshops, beach art creations with nationally renowned artist James Brunt, music and food.
The Yorkshire Fossil Festival also took place in Redcar at the weekend.
