A 25-year-old man appeared in court charged with attempted murder.
Police previously said 35-year-old man had been seriously injured in an alleged firearm incident on Hubbard Walk in Middlesbrough on Friday May 17, at about 8.20pm.
The victim remains in hospital at this time.
Two men, aged 22 and 25, were arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident.
The elder man, Nathan Blagg, 25, has today appeared before Teesside Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.
Blagg did not enter any pleas and will appear before Teesside Crown Court on June 18. He was remanded in custody pending the hearing next month.
The 22-year-old also arrested has since been released on police bail.
Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to assist their enquiries.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Detectives urge anyone who has any information in relation to the incident, to contact police. Dial 101, press 1 and pass information to the force control room, quoting reference number SE24091952.”
Police previously said they were treating the incident as isolated and reassured residents there was no threat to the wider public.
