Five people have been fined in court for littering and fly-tipping offences - and were fined a total of £3000 between them.
The five County Durham residents appeared in Peterlee Magistrates' Court, where they were all fined and ordered to pay costs.
All of the fines were linked to Durham County Council notices, which each resident ignored.
Five County Durham residents fined for littering offences:
- Fiona Catherine Burke, of Henry Street, Shildon, has been prosecuted after being issued a Community Protection Notice for the accumulation of waste in the rear of the property. A collection order of £438.00 was ordered to be paid.
- After an accumulation of waste, Benjamin McGinty, of Close House, Bishop Auckland was issued with a Community Protection Notice. After failure to comply, a collection order of £636.50 was made at court.
- Natasha Wilkinson, of Yorkhill Road, Spennymoor, has been ordered to pay £777.00 after failing to comply with a Community Protection Order regarding an accumulation of waste in the yard of the property.
- Shantelle Wilson, of Shafto Terrace, Shield Row failed to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £777 in fines and costs to pay.
- Alex Nixon, of Irene Terrace, Langley Park failed to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
