A fundraising drive has been launched to support the family of a Darlington schoolgirl who died in a tragic mudslide incident.
Leah Harrison, a year six pupil at Mount Pleasant Primary School, was on a school trip when she was caught up in the mudslide near Carlton Bank in Cleveland just after 1pm on Thursday (May 22).
Rescuers said the incident was a “freak force of nature”.
A GoFundMe fundraiser, set up to help Leah’s family, had raised £1,185 at the time of writing.
The fundraiser was set up by Natalie Toole - who said it has been set up on behalf of Leah's mother.
She said: “I am fundraising to help towards Leah’s final journey.
“Any donations are welcome, however small or big. Every bit helps.
