Darlington Council have confirmed work will be taking place on a busy road during the summer holidays.
The council have confirmed roadworks are planned for Croft Road in Hurworth, near Hurworth school.
They said the work will help create a safer path for students.
It will see three raised crossing facilities on Croft Road near Rockliffe Court, the school and Elmfield Road.
The project will also see a puffin crossing added, and 20mph zone implemented.
There will be no waiting zones in the area, loading restrictions, and extra parking restrictions at the entrance to Rockliffe Court.

A spokesperson for Darlington Borough Council said: “Advance notice! Roadworks are planned on Croft Road, Hurworth, close to Hurworth School, during the summer holidays to create a safer walking route for pupils.
“Residents close to the area have been sent a letter informing them of the results of the consultation and information about the planned work. A new traffic regulation order and hump notice will also be published next week.
“We will let you know any temporary road closures, diversions routes and when the work will start, when details have been confirmed.”
