A cordon is in place and forensic officers are on the scene after armed police were called to reports of a man with a weapon in Willington last night.
Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene of the disturbance on Russel’s Yard in Willington shortly after 9pm on Tuesday (May 21).
A man reportedly heard a weapon and another man suffered hand and leg injuries.
He was taken to hospital at James Cook in Middlesbrough and his condition is not believed to be serious.
A police cordon remains in place this morning while forensic officers examine the scene.
Two men, aged 50 and 37, have been arrested in connection with the disturbance.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Officers are treating this as an isolated incident and would like to reassure the public that there is no risk to the wider community.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 101 quoting incident 451 of May 21.”
