Here are a few of the people who were sentenced at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ court last week.
They include people convicted of shoplifting, criminal damage and driving offences.
Frederick Burnside, Ashtree Terrace, Holmside, Edmondsley, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving a car in a public place without reasonable consideration to other users on October 28 last year. The 81-year-old was fined £75 and had his licence endorsed with three penalty points.
Tracey Gascoigne, Avondale Gardens, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle in a public place without reasonable consideration to other users and driving without insurance from October 15 last year. The 59-year-old was fined £120 and had her licence endorsed with six penalty points.
Shauna Kelly, of no fixed abode but formerly Darlington, pleaded guilty to three shop thefts. The first at Iceland on December 3 last year she stole £60 worth of goods. The second offence she stole £115 of food belonging to Heron Foods on January 13. The third offence she stole washing up products to the value of £70, belonging to Morrisons on March 4. The 32-year-old was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
Ashley Grayman, of Wordsworth Avenue, Wheatley Hill, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving without a licence from February 22 in Thornley. The 18-year-old was banned from driving for seven days and fined £60.
Lauren Bowes, of Usher Avenue, Sherburn Village, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance from March 13. The 32-year-old was banned from driving for three months and fined £120.
Christopher Catchpole, of Church Street, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified in Easington on April 16. The 57-year-old was jailed for six weeks and banned from driving for a further 12-months.

Maureen Cullen, of Farm Close, Bishop Auckland, pleaded guilty to stealing £138 worth of alcohol from Marks and Spencer on February 25 this year. The 48-year-old was made subject of a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £138 in compensation.
Katie Ainsworth, of Close House, Bishop Auckland, pleaded guilty to 11 shoplifting offences and one fraud by false representation charge. The shop thefts took place in shops around the Bishop Auckland area. The 32-year-old also used a bank card belonging to another person to withdraw cash on April 14. She was made subject to an 18-month community order with a drug rehabilitation and rehabilitation activity requirement orders attached.
Jordan Kirkby, of Ashcroft Gardens, Bishop Auckland, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage on December 14 last year. The 24-year-old was given an eight-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £150 compensation to his victim.
Walter Weir, of Langley Grove, Bishop Auckland, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention on September 21 on Escomb Road and failing to stop after an accident. The 59-year-old was given an 18-month community order and told to attend 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
