Five people from County Durham have appeared in court and fined for littering and waste offences.

All five of the people have appeared at Peterlee Magistrates Court, where they were fined and ordered to pay costs.

Five County Durham people fined for littering offences:

  • Tracey Bithrey, of West Street, Ferryhill, has been prosecuted after failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Jamie Stannard, of Flora Street, Spennymoor has been prosecuted after failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Duane Malcolm Eddy, of Weardale Street, Speenymoor, has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden/yard. They plead guilty to the offence and now have a total of £738 in fines and costs to pay.
  • Darren Kay, of The Oval, Ouston, Chester Le Street, has been prosecuted for littering. They were given the opportunity to pay a Fixed Penalty Notice of £150 or £85 if completion of an e-learning course however failed to pay, they now have a total of £616 to pay.
  • Neala Gibson, of Burns Terrace, Shotton Colliery, has been prosecuted after failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £647 in fines and costs to pay.
