A popular escape room chain has revealed the opening date of their much anticipated new North East location.
The Escapologist will open a new location at the Metrocentre in Gateshead this summer - and say work is "full steam ahead" to welcome guests to brand new escape rooms and bar on June 14.
The Escapologist is known by escape room fans for their unique steampunk-inspired ambience, taking inspiration both from Victorian elegance and industrial innovation.
The business will take over the former location of JG Windows, in the Yellow Mall. Before its closure, the music shop was one of the few remaining original tenants in the shopping centre.
CEO Ellie McClaren said: "We are thrilled to bring The Escapologist to Metrocentre and introduce our unique escape rooms and cocktails to the vibrant community of Newcastle and the North East. Our goal is to transport our guests to a world where imagination knows no bounds, and every visit is an unforgettable adventure."
Olly McClaren, COO, added: "We've given each room its own narrative and set of challenges to create an environment where, from the moment guests step through our doors they'll be immersed in a world where gears turn, mysteries unfold, and adventure awaits".
Not only will The Escapologist's Metrocentre location have five new, themed escape rooms, it will also have a cafe lounge bar that serves up a range of "handcrafted cocktails".
Cam Ratcliffe, Group Operations Manager said: "Our cocktail menu is a fusion of classic recipes and innovative smoking creations that are sure to make an impression.”

Plans submitted to Gateshead Council for the conversion state that the site will eventually consist of eight themed escape rooms including a family-friendly and horror room. It is estimated that the entertainment venture will create 15 to 20 new jobs.
Gavin Prior, Metrocentre Centre Director commented: “The Escapologist is a welcome addition to the centre, further strengthening the leisure offer and providing something different for our visitors.
"With an ever-growing line-up of best-in-class retail and leisure brands Metrocentre is continuing to evolve and provide even more reasons to visit.”
