Police have confirmed the death of a man after part of a County Durham town was cordoned off at the weekend.
A wooded area in Peterlee was taped off by officers from Durham Constabulary late on Saturday afternoon.
Paramedics from North East Ambulance Service attended but the man could not be saved.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a man in the Bede Way area of Peterlee at around 4.30pm on Saturday, April 27.
“Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A file is being prepared for the coroner.”
