A horse has been euthanised after suffering significant injuries following a crash on a County Durham road.
Durham Police confirmed they were called to a collision between a car and horse on Fondlyset Lane, near Dipton, Stanley at 5:05am today (April 18).
The horse suffered significant injuries and was put to sleep at the scene.
The incident saw the road closed this morning.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called shortly after 5.05am today (April 18) to a collision in which a car had struck a horse on Fondlyset Lane, near Dipton, Stanley.
“Tragically the horse suffered significant injuries and was euthanised at the scene by a vet to prevent further suffering.
“The road was closed while officers worked at the scene.”
