Football fever is set to grip the nation this summer with dedicated fan zones coming to city centre locations in the North East for all the Euro 24 action.

There will be large-scale fans’ areas in Times Square, Newcastle, but this year also in Sunderland, for matches during the tournament in Germany.

England hope to go one better than in the last Euros, played a year late in 2021 when the Three Lions lost out on penalties to Italy in the Wembley final.

Events company Central Park has announced the return of the Times Square Fanzone, in Newcastle, but also at a new event space, Keel Edge, near the City Hall, in Sunderland.

The Northern Echo:

Central Park is partnering with energy drink company Lucozade for this summer’s Euros.

Lucozade Euro2024 Fanzone will see Times Square converted into a 2,000-plus capacity venue, with Sky Sports presenter Keith Downie hosting pre-match entertainment, featuring live interviews with former England players.

The new Sunderland venue will feature a jumbo HD screen, live bands and DJs, with a 1,500 capacity.

Before each game, there will be exclusive interviews with ex-England and Sunderland players, with DJ-led entertainment before and after the football.

The Northern Echo:

The tournament runs from Friday, June 14, when hosts Germany meet Scotland in the opening game in Munich, through to the final in Berlin, on Sunday, July 14.

England’s group stage fixtures kick-off against Serbia on Sunday, June 16, at 8pm, followed by matches with Denmark, on Thursday, June 20, at 5pm, and Slovenia, on Tuesday, June 25, at 8pm.

Fanzone ticket prices start from £5 per game.

A Central Park spokesperson said the Lucozade Euro2024 Fanzone Newcastle and Sunderland will bring a host of features to amplify the match-day experience.

“Fans can immerse themselves in the action with the largest LED screen in the city, capturing every moment in perfect detail.”

For those seeking a premium view at Times Square, limited front-row seating tickets and a private large-group viewing balcony accommodating up to 60 people are also available.

‘Season’ passes for all England Group C games are available for £15, plus a booking fee, and a 24-hour advance booking window for knockout games, including the final, if England can match their exploits at the last Euros.

Mike Hesketh, co-founder of North East Fanzone and Lucozade Euro2024 Fanzone Newcastle and Sunderland, said: "Partnering with Lucozade to bring the ultimate Fanzone experience is an amazing opportunity.”
