Residents have been left furious after antisocial behaviour saw a large number of trollies strewn across a skate park behind a North East Morrisons.
An image emerged of a pile of trollies dumped on the skate park behind Morrisons in Seaburn on April 8.
Sunderland City Council (SCC) have said they did not receive any reports of the incident, but will be engaging with Morrisons to understand the issues.
They also said they will be working with them to implement joint measures which can prevent trollies being taken.
A council spokesperson said: “Sunderland City Council did not receive any reports of this incident but ASB officers attended the area on Monday evening and it was clear.
“The officers will be engaging with Morrisons to understand any issues and identify what joint measures can be put into place to prevent trolleys being taken in future.”
Residents have reacted with anger and disappointment at the incident which saw the skate park littered with trollies and “smashed glass bottles.”
One resident said: “This is exactly one of the reasons why Sunderland doesn't get nice things because of the minority of people who do this!”
Another angry resident said: “Disgusting, what's wrong with these people.”

While another disappointed resident said: Oh my god, such a shame, spoilt by a few for the rest of us.”
Another furious resident said: “Morrisons is not to blame - it’s the mentality of these morons that causes such wanton vandalism.
“We had even less to do, when I was young but we entertained ourselves with football, cricket, rounders, on the beach. We didn’t go around trashing the place.”
