Over the years, the North East has been known for creating the backdrop to some of the most famous films and TV shows.
Whether filmed fully or partly in the region, the rolling hills, the picturesque buildings and the industrial backdrops have created some great moments on the silver screen and the small screen.
And as recently as this year, film crews have flocked to the area as Hollywood studios looked to take advantage of the country's thriving film climate and create 'binge-able' content for people to watch.
We have pieced together five films and TV shows that have been created using locations in County Durham and Teesside:
Vera
Perhaps an obvious one - because when you think of North East TV shows your mind immediately goes to Vera.
Some of our favourite episodes of the show were filmed in locations like Redcar, Hartlepool, Hexham, Wylam and further into Northumberland.
The lead character, played by Brenda Blethyn, always films across the North East, with the most recent series of Vera using Redcar, Hartlepool, Gateshead, Hexham and parts of Northumberland among others.
Boat Story
When a mysterious boat appeared on the beaches of Redcar, people thought it was a publicity stunt - but it turned out to be linked to a TV show called ‘Boat Story’.
Boat Story features unsuspecting leads Janet and Samuel – played by Daisy Haggard and Paterson Joseph - as they discover a haul of illegal drugs found on a shipwrecked boat.
After The Flood
ITV drama After the Flood used parts of Teesside to film scenes, with production crews spotted on Tees Barrage at the time of filming.
After the Flood is a mystery thriller set in a town hit by a devastating flood.

When an unidentified man is found dead in a lift in an underground car park police assume he became trapped as the waters rose, and as the investigation unfolds PC Joanna Marshall, played by Sophie Rundle, becomes obsessed with discovering what happened to him.
Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones' latest instalment, the Dial of Destiny, was filmed on Newcastle's Quayside and in Northumberland.
Alongside those two locations, Harrison Ford, who plays the famous archaeologist, was spotted in North Yorkshire for some parts of filming.
1917
The First World War movie was filmed in parts of Teesdale back in 2019.
Filming crews were spotted at Low Force waterfall and Wynch Bridge, where Bowlees Visitor Centre, near Barnard Castle at the time of filming.
Other scenes were shot at the Tees Barrage, in Stockton, the outdoor adventure and watersports facility, during an intense river scene.
