Pictures have emerged of the scene after an incident saw a County Durham road closed and a person taken to hospital.
North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) have confirmed they were called to an incident, which saw one person taken to hospital, on Sunderland Road on Gilesgate in Durham shortly before 2am on Tuesday (April 9).
They also confirmed that one ambulance crew, clinical team leader, and doctor attended the scene.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident this morning (9 April) at 1:41am on Sunderland Road in Durham.
“We dispatched one ambulance crew, one clinical team leader and one doctor.
“One patient was taken to RVI hospital."
Images of the scene showed a bicycle on the road, near Bells Fish and Chip Shop, surrounded by evidence markers.
An eyewitness reported that emergency services could be seen attending the incident at 2:15am.
The incident has caused the road to be closed and it remains shut at this time.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently on scene at an incident in the Gilesgate area.
“Sunderland Road is closed between the junctions of Musgrave Gardens and Belles Ville and is likely to remain closed for several hours.
“Please find alternative routes until the road can be reopened.”
