Street eats and beats will return to the region after a bumper Easter Bank Holiday weekend at a North East venue.
Thousands turned up to The Fire Station in Sunderland’s Cultural Quarter for the Fire Eaters street food village, as visitors enjoyed street food, DJs and live entertainment.
The three-day extravaganza across Good Friday, Saturday and Monday saw 20,000 drinks sold as customers enjoyed street food from GRK Greek Street Food, Saving Nemo, The Street Diner, Delhi Delights, The Funky IndianWali, Crepes Gourmet and Musafari Grills. The venue also played host to more than 1,100 attendees for its Big Country and Destination: Bowie shows.
Now, the street food village will return for May’s early bank holiday weekend, with the next event firing up on Friday, May 3 from 4pm until late.
Fire Eaters will continue Saturday, May 4, hosting Sunderland fans before and after the club’s final game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday.
The street food village will also operate on Sunday, May 5, with a full list of street food vendors and DJs to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Rhys McKinnell, The Fire Station CEO, said: “The response to our first Fire Eaters street food village has blown us away.
“We can’t thank the people of Sunderland enough for spending their Easter weekend with us, whether they enjoyed our street food, popped in for a pint, dined in our restaurant or visited one of our live shows in the auditorium.
“We're incredibly excited to be bringing Fire Eaters back to The Fire Station in May.”
