A new Indian restaurant has opened its doors to diners promising Bombay-inspired street food and bold flavours.
The new restaurant, inspired by the old Bombay - now Mumbai, Dakwala opened on Newcastle’s Grainger Street on Friday (April 5).
Chefs say the menu takes its inspiration from the bustling streets of the Indian capital and will offer timeless classics and some “innovative” dishes.
Founder Rajiv Tiwari said: “I am thrilled to bring the vibrant flavours and cultural tapestry of Bombay to the heart of Newcastle through Dakwala.
“Our menu is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Bombay's streets, offering a symphony of flavours and aromas that capture the essence of the dynamic city.
“I'm excited to share my passion for traditional Bombay street food with the people and visitors of Newcastle, ensuring there is something on our menu for everyone to enjoy.”
The huge venue has room for 220 diners over two floors.
The restaurant will be open daily from 12.30pm to 11.30pm and full menus can be found online.
