One person has been hospitalised after a Darlington house fire as pictures show smoke pouring out of the door and a large emergency service presence.
Three fire engines and multiple police vehicles were seen on and around Cavendish Court in Darlington this afternoon at around 1:30pm (April 3) following reports of a house fire.
Pictures sent in show smoke billowing out of the front door as firefighters moved in and out flighting the flames.
Residents crowded the street immediately after the incident and have reacted in shock as the windows of the home have been left black from smoke.
One said: “Someone said it was fog and I looked out the garden and saw it. The full of the house was on fire.
“The whole street was out after it happened but this has never happened here before, it’s very unusual in this area.”
The ambulance service has now confirmed that one person has been taken to hospital.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 1.25pm this afternoon (Wednesday 3 April) to reports of a fire at a private address on Cavendish Drive in Darlington.
"We dispatched an ambulance crew to the scene who transported one patient to hospital for further treatment."
