Improvement works have now begun on a popular seaside promenade.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council (RCBC) have confirmed works to improve the appearance of Marine Parade and the foreshore area in Saltburn will begin later this month.
The council has confirmed the work will first see the renewal of the railings lining Marine Parade and the resurfacing of the seaward side footway.
Footway resurfacing work will be carried out in two phases – with the first scheduled for the week beginning on April 22, and the second taking place before the summer holidays.
Councillor Lynn Pallister said: “Saltburn is one of our most popular and much-loved beauty spots and visitor numbers continue to grow year on year.
“Residents will be able to see significant progress being made in the coming weeks, and visitors should see a much-improved Marine Parade ready for the peak summer season.
“By carrying out these improvements, it is our ambition that the area will become even more popular and moving forward, these investments may then have the potential to open up further opportunities for additional leisure and hospitality businesses.”
Benches, bins, planters and other street furniture will be temporarily moved to allow for resurfacing work.
This will be returned after completion – and will be refurbished or replaced in some instances.

The works are funded by the Welcome to Redcar and Cleveland funding, administered via Tees Valley Combined Authority.
Tom Bryant, Tees Valley Combined Authority’s director of infrastructure, said: “Saltburn is a huge draw for locals and tourists alike.
“These improvements will help beautify the area and, crucially, draw more people to spend time in the town and take advantage of its local businesses.”
