Armed police attended an incident involving a ‘firearm’ outside a County Durham nightclub last night.
Durham Police confirmed they were called to reports of a disturbance on Cotswold Place, Peterlee, shortly before 5pm on Monday (March 25).
They confirmed one woman was arrested on Bede Way on ‘suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence.’
Images of the scene showed armed police descend on Bede Way before making an arrest.
No one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a disturbance in Cotswold Place, Peterlee, shortly before 5pm on Monday, March 25.
“Armed officers attended and one woman was arrested nearby on Bede Way on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence.

“No-one is believed to have been injured.
“Officers are treating this as an isolated incident and would like to reassure the public there is no risk to the wider community.
“Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 308 of March 25.”
