A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a vehicle in County Durham on Sunday (March 17) morning.
Emergency services were called to a serious collision on the A692 Rotary Way in Consett, at about 10.30am, following reports of a crash.
Police and paramedics attended the scene - with the road still closed at this time in both directions between the Templetown and Delves Lane roundabouts.
The North East Ambulance Service has confirmed that a woman was taken to hospital following the crash.
An NEAS spokesperson said, "We received a call at 10:28 this morning to a road traffic incident on A692 Rotary Way in Consett, involving a female pedestrian and a vehicle. We sent one emergency ambulance and pre-alerted one patient to University Hospital North Durham with a head injury."

During the crash, Durham Police added: "We are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A692 Rotary Way, in Consett.
"The road is closed in both directions between the Templetown and Delves Lane roundabouts.
"Drivers are advised to find an alternative route. Thank you for your patience."
