Police and crime scene investigators attended the scene of a 'disturbance' in Darlington that saw a cordon in place and a window put through.

Officers from Durham Police responded to reports of a disturbance at an address on Aldbrough Walk, in Darlington, shortly after midnight on Sunday (March 17).

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.

Following the incident, specialist officers and forensic examiners were seen in the area making further enquiries to establish the circumstances.

The police cordon in place stretched from Fenby Avenue to the houses on Aldbrough Walk, which saw numerous police vehicles and police officers, who were making door-to-door enquiries.

Several houses on Aldbrough Walk were put behind a cordon, with one property seen to have its window put through.

Durham Police have launched an investigation into the incident and have reassured residents in the area that there is no wider risk to them.

A spokesperson for the police force said: "Officers would like to reassure residents that there is no wider threat to the public and would like to thank the community for their support and patience.

"Anybody with any information relating to the incident is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 6 of March 17."
