A four-month-old baby who died in a Lanzarote car crash is from the North East, it has been reported.
Harper Ayton, from South Shields, died after a car mounted a pavement hitting pedestrians on a street in Playa Blanca on the popular Canary Island on Monday night (March 11), according to national Press reports.
According to the reports, Harper's mother, Alex Chadkirk from South Shields, in Tyne and Wear, father, Timothy Ayton, and maternal grandparents Andrea and Derek Chadkirk, were taken to hospital.
Local officials are reporting the baby's father and grandmother were the most seriously injured.
National media reports state that the family were hurt after a Ford Fiesta, driven by an individual under the influence, mounted the pavement.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, baby Harper was declared dead at the scene.
The 23-year-old driver, a British expatriate living on the island of Arrecife, is accused by local authorities of manslaughter and drink driving after she was allegedly over the legal limit when her car struck a group of pedestrians.
A further two women from Sweden, reportedly a mother and her daughter, were also hurt in the incident.
